Originally quoted for a ground-mounted system at residence in Bromsgrove, we identified a west-facing stable roof suitable for solar, avoiding planning permission and keeping future expansion options open.
Challenges
Crosswinds is a dual-family property with high annual energy usage. Previous proposals had focused on a ground-mounted system requiring planning permission, and it was suggested that a larger inverter would not be approved by the DNO.

Our Solution
Solar Severn identified significant generation potential on a large west-facing stable roof, removing the need for a ground mount. We submitted a DNO application for a 12kW inverter to future-proof the system and secured approval with a 6kW export limitation, an excellent outcome for the client.

Project Highlights
The installation includes substantial battery storage, a backup gateway for power outages, and capacity for future expansion, including additional panels or further storage. Due to the distance to the stable, we trenched and installed ducting for a large armoured cable, carefully managing volt drop considerations. The full array was bird-protected due to nearby conifers.
The project was completed smoothly within one working week, delivering a high-performance, future-ready solar solution in Bromsgrove.
