Case Study
Hindlip Manor
Battery Storage & Backup Upgrade
Residential | Worcester
Hindlip Manor already had an existing solar PV installation and wanted to enhance it with battery storage and whole-property backup protection.
The objective was to maximise self-sufficiency, improve resilience during power cuts, and future-proof the system using Sigenergy’s three-phase technology. Payback was not a key driver for the customer; reliability, quality, and long-term support were the priorities.
Challenges
- Existing electrical installation was not up to current standards
- Three-phase electrical system required careful assessment
- Distribution boards needed upgrading before batteries and backup gateway could be installed safely
Our Solution
Before installing any new energy equipment, Solar Severn carried out the necessary electrical upgrades to ensure the system was fully compliant and future-ready.
Works completed included:
- Upgrading and reconfiguring existing three-phase distribution boards
- Installing a Sigenergy Backup Gateway to provide whole-property backup
- Installing a 15 kW three-phase Sigenergy Energy Controller
- Installing 32 kWh of Sigenergy battery storage
All works were delivered in a structured, phased approach to ensure safety, reliability, and long-term performance.
Smart Energy
& Home Automation
The customer in Worcester was particularly impressed with the technology behind the Sigenergy ecosystem, which allows seamless integration with home automation. This enabled the use of Shelly devices to intelligently divert excess solar generation to heat hot water and charge storage heaters, maximising on-site energy use and reducing reliance on the grid.
The system also allows for future expansion, including the ability to add up to two additional batteries and additional solar PV if required.
